Membership Grades

Membership in the Nigerian Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NIIE) is divided based on the following two types of memberships:

  • Professional Membership
  • Non-Professional Membership
  • Corporate Membership
(i) Fellowship (FNIIE): For seasoned professionals and thought leaders in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship.

(ii) Full Membership (MNIIE): For established entrepreneurs and business leaders committed to excellence and growth.

(iii) Associate Membership (ANIIE): For aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals looking to expand their knowledge and network.
(i) Graduate Membership (GNIIE): For recent graduates eager to embark on their entrepreneurial journey:
- Graduate Regular: For graduates ready to start their entrepreneurial journey.
- Graduate NYSC: For NYSC members aiming to develop entrepreneurial skills.

(ii) Artisan Membership: For skilled artisans seeking to harness their talents and entrepreneurial potential.
Corporate Membership: Designed for companies, organizations, or businesses looking to foster innovation and entrepreneurship within their teams. This membership offers access to specialized training, networking opportunities, and resources to enhance corporate growth and development. Ideal for organizations focused on empowering their employees and advancing entrepreneurship strategies.

  • Professional Membership (Requirements)

1. Fellow Membership

This category is open to flourishing entrepreneurs, seasoned professionals, scholars, or thought leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as tertiary institution lecturers, mentors, development finance managers, NGO project managers, and PhD scholars in entrepreneurship or related disciplines. This membership has the following requirements:

  • Flourishing entrepreneurs or enterprise managers with a minimum of 15 years in entrepreneurial practice or business management operations, leading a business outfit that can be regarded as either national or regional in Nigeria.
  • First degree/HND holders with 15 years of working experience, including 3 years in a leadership role, or 10 years of working experience with a second degree, including 5 years in a leadership role.
  • PhD scholars with academic, research institute, or non-academic experience, with contributions to the field of innovation or entrepreneurship through research, publications, or policy advocacy.
  • Fellowship from a reputable professional body or institute in Nigeria, such as ANAN, ICAN, NIM, CIBN, NSE, etc.

2. Full Membership

This category is open to established entrepreneurs, business leaders, and public or private enterprise managers. The requirements for this membership are as follows:

  • Minimum of 10 years in innovation, entrepreneurship, or business management practice within a state-wide, regional, or national business outfit.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional qualifications with at least 3 years of working experience.
  • HND/BSc holders with 8 years of experience in business, demonstrating entrepreneurial enthusiasm.
  • Entrepreneurs with a minimum of 5 years of entrepreneurial experience or enterprise managers with at least 5 years of business management experience, with proven evidence of driving growth, innovation, or development within an organization or business.
  • Similar membership category from a relevant professional body.
  • Entrepreneurship trainers with 10 years of experience working with or managing startup mentorship hubs or incubation centers.

3. Associate Membership

This category is open to aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals seeking to expand their network and skills. The following are the requirements for Associate Membership:

  • 5 to 7 years in a professional role related to innovation or entrepreneurship, or similar years of experience in any strategic business unit of a public or private organization.
  • Entrepreneurs at the scaling stage of business operations, or HND/BSc holders in a relevant field with 5 years of post-NYSC experience.
  • Active involvement in a startup, small business, or entrepreneurial venture with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Similar membership grade from a relevant professional body.

3. Associate Membership

  • Capacity-Building Workshops: Participate in select capacity-building workshops.
  • Industry-Focused Initiatives: Involve yourself in industry-focused Industrial Learning and Tour initiatives.
  • Professional Designation: Use the Institute's membership designation, ‘Associate Member’ (ANIIE), to stand out as a professional in every situation.
  • Non-Professional Membership (Requirements)

1(a) Graduate Membership (Regular):

This category is open to recent graduates with a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. The requirements for Graduate Membership are:

  • Recent graduate with an HND/Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with evidence of participation in a Polytechnic or University-based entrepreneurial skills program, or 1-year internship experience related to innovation or entrepreneurship.
  • Individuals with an interest in pursuing a career in entrepreneurship, with a minimum of 5 years of experience from startup hubs, entrepreneurial research, startup incubation, or tech hubs.
  • Similar membership from a relevant professional body.

1(b) Graduate Membership (NYSC):

This membership category offers a special discount for recent graduates who have a strong passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. It is specifically designed for those currently enrolled in the one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. Through a strategic partnership with the NYSC and the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), this category aims to create employment opportunities, nurture successful innovative enterprises, reduce capital flight, and lessen reliance on government jobs.

To apply for the NYSC Graduate Membership with the Nigeria Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NIIE), applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Must hold an HND or BSc degree from a recognized institution.
  • NYSC Participation: Must be a current NYSC Corps Member with NYSC ID card.
  • School-Based Entrepreneurship Certificate:Submit a certificate or proof of completion of a school-based entrepreneurship course or program.
  • Entrepreneurial Skills and Training:Provide documentation of any entrepreneurial skills-based training received, either during or after school, which could include workshops, short courses, or certifications.
  • Business Idea: Present a brief description of a business idea that requires startup support or scaling up support. This should include a summary of the idea, the problem it addresses, and the target market.

2. Artisan/Technician Membership:

This category is open to skilled individuals with evidence of apprenticeship training and undergraduate students who participated in a school-based entrepreneurship internship program and passed the Entrepreneurship GST/GSE course, ready to harness their talents for entrepreneurship. The requirements for this type of membership are:

  • Trade Test Certificate or holder of National Skills Qualification (NSQ) Level 1-4.
  • Master craftsmen (e.g., IT craftsmen, plumbing, technicians, carpentry, automobile, mobile phone, building craftsmen, etc.) with or without formal academic qualifications, but with extensive skills-based training from formal or informal settings, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience.
  • Undergraduate students who participated in a school-based entrepreneurship internship program and passed the Entrepreneurship GST/GSE course.
  • Any individual passionate about creating a business or possessing marketable skills to offer services independently may be admitted.
